Stores under fire for using sound devices
What started off as a good idea has developed into a nuisance and the people who these devices were developed to deter are now fighting back and they have the backing of England’s commissioner for children.
The devices give off a high frequency sound that only people under the age of twenty can hear, the device is known as a “Mosquito” was originally designed to be turned on to disperse crowds of teenagers who are making a nuisance of themselves outside shops.
But now a campaign has been launched to have these devices removed as they appear to discriminate against all people under the age of twenty and not just those who are causing trouble outside shops.
It is estimated that there are around 3,500 of the devices in operation around the UK and it is this blanket coverage that is causing concern for many organisations.
