Fruit and Veg message getting across

The now famous five a day message that relates to eating enough fruit and veg is getting though but only slightly, with 58% of people responding the five a day appeal from the Food Standards Agency (FSA) but this is only three per cent up on the year before.

The FSA’s chief scientist, Andrew Wadge, said: “However, what appears to be a drop in concern about how much fat and salt there is in our food shows how critical it is that the agency continues to raise awareness around a healthier diet and provides clear information and advice, backed up by scientific evidence.”

However the figures are also different for women and men, with sixty three per cent of women saying that they have their five a day, and of the men only fifty four per cent eat the fruit and veg on a regular basis.
