Buying supplements can be bad for your health
Most people who visit the health food store to buy certain vitamins and supplements think that these are doing them good, and why not the adverts that are all over the TV and press are all telling them so. But as we have seen TV and other advertising can sometimes be slightly misleading.
So as far as protecting yourself from cancer we are led to believe that vitamin C, and a whole host of berries and fruits can help your body fight against cancer. This is great, for if there is cancer in your family, then you would want to be taking these supplements, right? Wrong!
Research has found that taking antioxidants can actually increase your chances of getting cancer. In a recent study, women were given vit C, vit E, beta carotene, selenium and zinc, but these developed skin cancer in the region of 1.3%. The women, who did not take any supplements at all, developed skin cancer at a rate of just 0.07%. Now that is something to think about.
