Online shopping up in July

For the first time ever UK online sales top £4 billion, but whatever the reasons given, weather, school holidays or work, shoppers have been letting their computers do the shopping for them.

In July the actual figure for online sales touched £4.2 billion, which is an astonishing 80% increase on the same month last year, the figures around for high street shopping were £5 billion, which was only 3.3% up on the same time last year.

There has been a definite trend towards online shopping, what the exact reason for this is as of yet unknown, but I doubt if it is one single element, it is more likely to be a combination of events, but whatever the reason the verdict is very clear, online shopping is catching up with high street shopping very fast.

The next big test will be, if I dare say it! Christmas.
