Additives could be banned

There is increased pressure being put on the Food Standards Agency to do something about the amount of chemical additives being put in foods, these are normally classified as e numbers. It is believed that the amount of children who suffer from hyperactivity would be cut by a third if this was done.

Researchers from the University of Southampton have been working on the way that these chemical act within a child. They found that the chemicals can have a serious affect on the behaviour of children and would reduce the amount of anti social behaviour that is causing so much trouble for many people.

The research has come up with some astonishing figures, there are 462,000 children aged between three and twelve who suffer from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), but if the additives were stopped altogether, this figure would drop by thirty per cent, about 140,000, which would make a lot of lives different.
