Basic foods prices at record levels

There is a growing world problem which could if left uncontrolled plunge the whole world into chaos. Basic food stuffs are in great demand and as such the prices are rising to all time highs and as such there are shortages occurring in the places where food is already in short supply.

While other stories are taking the lead in the news headlines this problem is quietly creating problems in countries already suffering from lack of other services too? Food riots are becoming more and more frequent, even with the emergency food supplies being provided by the US, UN and other countries.

With more land being turned over to the production of bio fuel plants, this is only going to add to the problem later on down the line. Clearly this is not the way to go, with people filling their cars with bio fuels and the countries where the plant material comes from are starving because there is a lack of home grown food.
