Keeping fruit and veg fresh
Food has been a strange gauge these days to see how the state of the economy is going, with food prices virtually at an all time high, then it is no wonder that the western world have been feeling the so called credit crunch.
However, at the same time the amount of food that we waste is also at an all time high, which is something of a dilemma for people on a budget. The problem is not that the food that we buy is not up to scratch; the problem is that we have somehow forgotten how to store our food in the correct manner.
With so much fresh food coming in plastic, the urge is to take the covering off straight away, but in many cases, this is wrong because it is the plastic that is keeping the food fresh for longer. By keeping the plastic on the food and in some cases perforating it to allow ventilation will drastically improve the life of the food and cut back on waste.
