Gerald Ratner back in business
Well there is a saying that “You can’t keep a good man down” not quite sure if that really applies to Gerald Ratner, but he is a good businessman, he let his loose tongue let him down. When back in 1991 he made a speech and referred to his jewellery as “Total Crap”. It was down hill from there.
But after trying a failed £350 million offer for his old firm was turned down, he has decided to go it alone and start Geraldonline.com which will be an internet jewellery firm. The company is expecting that within eighteen months they will be making an offer for a high street jewellery chain, whether it is the old Ratners, now called the Signet Group or some other famous name.
