Beat the clock sale ends in chaos

Sales can be a little bit on the busy side, but for some stores the queues turn into almost riotous conditions, as with the Clockwork Orange store in Northern Ireland. Their sale was due to begin five o’clock in the morning but the crowds were there way before, in fact it is estimated that over 2000 were trying to get into the store when tempers became raised.

It was within 30 minutes of the store being open when the window displays began to be demolished; people were just ripping clothes of off the mannequins. The object of the sale was that those customers who were there at five could buy anything for five pounds, including £300 coats etc, people do tend to like a bargain hence the problems.
