Tesco move in on US market

As if being the number one supermarket chain in the UK was not enough, the Hertfordshire based Tesco stores have begun an attack on the US marketplace by opening their first store in a small and rather unknown city of Hemet, California.

Opening a store in a city of this kind may seem rather strange, but it is only 75 miles away from Los Angeles, which in US terms is hardly any distance at all.

They have plans to open up at least five more stores in the southern part of California, with others to follow in Las Vegas and Phoenix, the main push will come next year as the company trading under the name of Fresh and Easy Neighbourhood Market expand further.
