The iPhone to be sold unlocked

After the land mark court case in Germany regarding the Apple iPhone and the fact that it was tied to just one provider, this was not allowed in Germany and so Deutsche Telekom will now have to by law sell an Apple iPhone that has been unlocked and ready for the owner to sign with their favourite mobile phone provider, in theory that is.

Naturally there is going to be a cost to this and there always is going to be isn’t there? In this case the cost is going to be around £700 for an unlocked iPhone, where as the two year contract version is going to be only £200.

Yet people who bought their iPhone after November 19th will be able to get their iPhone unlocked for free, the situation with the iPhones that have been unlocked by third party software is unknown.
